Taking your new puppy home.

Its important that you remember that this will be a very strange and scary time for the puppy. He/She will experience many different sounds, sights and textures. It will also be the first time the puppy does not have the other puppies or his/her mother close by.
Its important to take everything slowly and not overwhelm the puppy too much, here are some do's and dont's you may find useful.
DO'S
-
allow the puppy to investigate his/her new surroundings whilst being monitored.
-
try and keep visitors at bay till the puppy knows you are its protector and feels safe around you
-
give the puppy an area (i suggest a crate) with toys and bedding around so the puppy has somewhere to relax should he/she feel overwhelmed or scared.
-
Show the puppy where food/water and take them back a few times to make sure they know where it is
-

DONT'S
-
try not to expose the puppy to too much too soon, take it step by step and allow the puppy to learn
-
Do not allow the puppy to climb the stairs or jump of the sofa! puppy's bones are very fragile and damage can be painful and life changing
-
dont take them for a walk until the 2nd injection is complete and even then start off slowly (5 mins a day) and build this up gradually overtime.
